Welcome to the History and Cultures Workshop (HCW), at the University of Birmingham.
HCW provides opportunities for postgraduates both and in and out of the University of Birmingham to exchange ideas and perspectives within an informal environment. We welcome all postgraduates and early career researchers who specialise in the study of history, cultures and area studies; emphasising a broad scope in both geographic and chronological terms. HCW aims to foster lively and stimulating debate, while taking advantage of Birmingham’s central location and excellent transport connections to encourage the networking of postgraduates with similar research interests.
HCW’s events are organised by a committee of postgraduates and include a regular seminar series and a number of upcoming skills sessions. The committee is also responsible for the Journal of History and Cultures (JHAC), a new peer-reviewed journal accessible at historyandcultures.com
* Update (19 April 2013): The Summer 2013 schedule for our Seminar Series (held fortnightly at the University of Birmingham) is now finalised and available to view online. We welcome anyone interested in the study of history and cultures.
* Update (25 February 2013): The History and Cultures Workshop is delighted to be working with the Royal Historical Society’s Postgraduate Speakers Series.
